Day 2 - Nairobi

As per my previous blog, we arrived safely in Nairobi and made it to our hotel around 11:30 p.m. Nairobi time. We were very happy to get to our hotel and the name made us feel somewhat comforted and at home. The name of our hotel is "Grandpas". 🤣🤣 I was able to go to sleep around 1:00 a.m. which is really helping with jetlag from the eight hour time difference between Abingdon and Nairobi. Lynn wasn't able to sleep much last night but, like a trooper, made it through today's activities with flying colors. She did fall asleep a few times in the car on our return trip to "Grandpas" though, but that's to be expected after only a few hours sleep in two days. She also survived the hot temperatures, going from 32 degrees in Abingdon to mid-80's here in Nairobi. I think she will definitely carry a lot of water and a towel to keep her face dry during the remaining time we're here. We sweated a lot today, especially riding in Ubers with no air conditioning and the windows rolled most of the way up. This is to prevent anyone from reaching into the car and taking things while the car is stopped in traffic, which is 75% of the time during rush hour.

We had a fairly busy day today (Thursday, November 30th). First thing after breakfast, we visited Pastor Gabriel and his beautiful family who live in Soweto East Nairobi, a slum area. They pastor a church in Soweto East named Harvest Center and I'm looking forward to preaching there on one of our return visits, and possibly holding a crusade and conference. We really enjoyed our visit but didn't take pictures inside the slum out of respect for the residents, knowing they don't like people taking photos there. We did take a photo with Pastor Gabriel, his wife and three children, in their home (posted below). Pastor Gabriel spent the day with Athanus, Lynn and I and we really appreciated his company and being part of our security.

After our visit there, we traveled to the center business district of Nairobi (known as CBD) and Lynn purchased a guitar for her to use while here (the beautiful blue one in the photo below). She was very happy with her purchase. We then traveled through the very busy downtown area and had lunch with Rabbi Jack Farber and his wife Ellen at Java House. Rabbi Jack is a Messianic Jew and Israeli citizen and has a Synagogue in Nairobi. They're a wonderful brother and sister in Christ who love the Lord and doing a great work. The Messianic Jews and Christians were never meant to be separate and our ministry is one of uniting the entire body of Christ around the truth of the full gospel. We look forward to building our relationship with them in the future.

We are now back at the hotel and pretty exhausted. Tomorrow morning very early we will be traveling to our home in Mumias (Ogolo Marketplace) Kenya, which is an eight hour bus ride northwest of Nairobi. There are no toilets on the bus and only one pit stop. We have to limit our food and water intake several hours prior to traveling, otherwise, the bus will need to stop along the highway to allow relief which is not a good thing during daylight and traffic. 🤣🤣 Sometimes though, when nature calls and you're in pain, dignity goes out the window 🤣🤣

Once home in Mumias we will rest, and then the next day (Saturday), Athanus will drive us into Bungoma to do grocery shopping and pick up any other supplies we may need. Sunday I will be delivering Ithe message to "House of Winners Worship Center - Ogalo", a church Pastor Athanus and I planted a couple years back and also the headquarters of WYM - Africa. Afterwwards, Lynn will be delivering a message to the women of the church.

Early next week, we plan to travel to Budalang'i Kenya for our two to three day Wholly Yours Ministries ministry conference (try to say that three times in a row). 🤣🤣 We will be seeking the Lord for His divine direction for Wholly Yours Ministries and nail down some future planning to achieve the goals established by that direction.

Thanks for your continued prayers and support and for following

us along on our journey. I'll be updating you all again in a few days.
